Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)

The purpose of Peabody Charter School's Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (The Panther Program) is to provide a safe and inclusive environment where students participate in a variety of hands-on engaging learning experiences. The Program staff works collaboratively to create a safe, caring, and innovative, program to meet the needs and interests of its students. The Panther Program promotes character traits based on Peabody's learner profile (teamwork, responsibility, creativity, curiosity, problem-solving skills etc.). The Panther Program begins immediately after the end of the school day.

GRADE-LEVEL AVAILABILITY
AND HOURS OF OPERATION

  • ELOP program (Panthers) is offered to all enrolled Peabody Students TK-6. Space is limited and a Waitlist is offered.
  • The Panther Program is open every day that school is open (including minimum days in which the students will check in to the Program directly after lunch). 
  • Panthers will not be open during any holidays or school vacations.

Regular Hours:                                                            

  • TK/Kinder     2:30-5:15pm
  • Grades 1-3      2:30-5:30pm
  • Grades 4-6      3:00-5:30pm

STAFFING

  • Peabody maintains a staff-to-student ratio of approximately 1:15 for 1st -6th grade and a staff-to-student ratio of 1:10 for TK/Kindergarten.
  • We provide a yearly First Aid/CPR class for staff and all employees have passed a background employment screening.
  • All staff members are required to have a walkie-talkie for fast, easy communication.
  • Our team consists of school-day staff, college students, and other experienced adults who enjoy working with children.

SNACKS

  • Peabody Cafeteria provides a snack upon check-in and a smaller snack at 5:10. Snacks are selected in accordance with Peabody's  Wellness Policy.
  • Your child may bring their own healthy snack as well.

Pickup Procedures & Schedule

  • All students must be signed out electronically by a staff member. 
  • Parents, guardians, and approved adults (over 18) must walk on campus to check out their child(ren) and may be required to show photo identification.
  • Once a child is checked out by staff they may not return to the After School Program that day. 
  • Children will not be released to anyone other than a parent, guardian, or person listed as a contact in the Parent Portal in the enrollment software program. 
  • Children will not be allowed to leave the After School Program unattended.
  • TK/Kinder students will be picked up in the Kindergarten area. Please look for the whiteboard which will indicate which classroom they will be in that day.
  • For grades 1-6, please look for the whiteboard outside the science lab with each grade level's location. After 5:10 all remaining students will be brought to the science lab.

2:30-2:40- sign in on blacktop
2:40-3:00- snack at blue tables
3:00-4:15- free activity time in K yard
4:15-4:20- clean up K yard
4:20-4:40- 2nd snack at blue tables
4:40-5:15- in a classroom for free activity time

Tuesday- Room 3
Wednesday Room 4
Thursday- Room 5
Friday- Room 5

2:30-3:00 Sign in, snack, games
3:00-3:15 Announcements
3:15-3:30 Free Play
3:30-4:30 Rotations (Music, gardening, sports, art, cooking, etc.)
4:30-4:45 Free play
4:45-5:10 Homework support as necessary
5:10-5:30 Clean up, 2nd snack, pick up

Emergency & Safety Protocols

In the event of any emergency situation, we will use the Standard Response Protocol (K12) as adopted and implemented by Peabody Charter School. As circumstances dictate, staff will direct students to Secure, Lockdown, Evacuate, or Shelter in Place. After School staff has been trained and will be in communication with the Program Director and other Peabody Management Staff in the event of any emergency situation. Parents will be informed and kept up to date using school communication alert systems.
